Whether you are dreading it or have been counting down the days, it's almost time to send the kids back to school. After a summer off, there can be a lot to prepare before the first day of class. This includes getting school supplies and making sure your student's immunizations are up to date. Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) partners with organizations in our local communities, such as Fort Wayne's Super Shot, to help students prepare for the upcoming year - and show them more about what our team does.
To help families get some of their to-do list accomplished in one stop, Super Shot helped families check the box on required back-to-school immunizations. The July 31 event, sponsored by I&M, featured one of our bucket trucks for a touch-a-truck experience. Those attending also got to put on some of our lineworkersgear lineworkers and hop inside the bucket of the truck.
"Through events like these, we are able to support our community while giving them a hands-on opportunity to learn more about what our lineworkers do each day," said Kelly Rentschler, I&M External Affairs manager. "Even though the gear might have been a bit too big on some of the kids stopping by, it is always great to see excitement from some future potential lineworkers."
The first 100 children to receive their vaccinations at the event could also claim their free backpack filled with school supplies, provided by Super Shot and the I&M Foundation.
