“We appreciate the willingness I&M has demonstrated to advocate for us in the community and support our members on the ground level. We are grateful to build on this partnership to help further our mission as we continue to expand as an organization in the Southwest Michigan area.” - Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Michigan Leadership
How would you best describe the work your organization does?
For over 25 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan has been helping kids ages 6-18 create Great Futures through recreational activities, after-school tutoring, mentoring and programming focused on a healthy lifestyle. Our talented instructors and leaders continue to fulfill our mission of inspiring and enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
How would you describe your organization’s partnership with I&M?
Our partnership began in 2008, but since 2014, our collaboration surrounding academic success, character and leadership development and support for a healthy lifestyle has grown year over year.
In what ways have you worked with I&M during this partnership?
Much of our work depends on sharing our message with the community. Through the work of I&M staff, we have had visible, positive and supportive community ambassadors throughout Southwest Michigan to help make this possible. Notably, I&M has sponsored a variety of opportunities, including our annual Make- A-Difference event. Through their generous complete coverage of the event, funds raised went directly into future programming opportunities. Additionally, staff has also hosted Workforce Development opportunities and supported our members as Youth of the Year judges.
