I&M Files Large Load Tariff to Provide Customer Protections

20 de octubre de 2025

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an American Electric Power (Nasdaq:AEP) company, recently filed proposed modifications to I&M’s Large Power Tariff (Tariff LP) with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The Large Power Tariff will apply to those customers commonly referred to as Large Load customers, requiring a substantial amount of energy to operate and maintain their operations. Under this filing, Large Load customers are those who use 50 megawatts (MW) or higher at any single site or combination of sites.

"I&M's goals with the Large Power Tariff are to ensure system reliability, protect our existing customers from potentially adverse impacts related to large investments and deliver affordable service for all customers, while also addressing significant increases in electrical demand required by future Large Load customers. We're committed to providing the best service possible for all customers while supporting economic growth in the communities we have the privilege to serve," said Steve Baker, I&M's president and chief operating officer.

The updated tariff filed with the MPSC recognizes the energy needs of potential new Large Load customers and proposes additional commitments that these customers must make associated with the electric service they have requested and receive. These requirements are important to balance the interest of new Large Load customers with those of I&M's other customers.
