The joy from gatherings with loved ones, delicious meals and festive décor is hard to beat. For many, the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year. But as prices for necessities continue to rise, finding holiday spirit can be challenging for some neighbors.
For those who have the means, providing a donation can bring relief to someone struggling this season. It can mean heat for a home or money to buy groceries. If you have a little extra to give this year and are an I&M customer, why not consider helping an Indiana neighbor?
En I&M Neighbor to Neighbor Program is an emergency relief fund designed to provide payment assistance to income-qualified Indiana customers. In partnership with Dollar Energy Fund and local organizations, the program helps qualifying I&M customers pay their electric bill with a utility assistance grant.
Grants are dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible applicants while funding is available. To be able to serve those looking to get back on their feet, I&M is providing its customers the opportunity to help a neighbor firsthand. For a different way to give this holiday, customers can choose a fixed monthly amount to donate or can “round up” their bill to the next whole dollar with the excess going toward the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.
Launched in 2018, I&M provided a $50,000 company contribution to the fund. Customers have since added their contributions over the following years, showing how neighbor can truly help neighbor through challenging times - no expensive gift wrap needed.
