Since 2013, peregrine falcons, Moxie and Jamie, have won over bird enthusiasts around the world, as well as members of our local community. With the addition of one chick now occupying the nest box, the time has come to name the next falcon to fly the Fort Wayne skies.
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is asking the community to help vote on the official name for this falcon chick. With help from the Teens for Nature Program at the Fort Wayne Zoo, we have a list of options to choose from:
- Talon
- Hunter
- Mad Anthony
- Tucker
- Lightning
- Aspen
- Summit
- Maverick
- Dash
- Vincent
- Sharon
- Electra
- Athena
- Juniper
- Quinn
- Swifty
- Fern
- Penelope
- Victoria
- Unity
The survey will remain open through the end of the day Wednesday, May 21. Vote for your favorite name by clicking here to take the survey.
The winning name will be announced Friday, May 23 at a banding and naming ceremony in partnership with Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehab, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Indiana Audubon Society.
You can view the chick and the proud parents by visiting I&M’s live webcam: www.IndianaMichiganPower.com/FalconCam. This stream offers a 24/7 view of the nest box from the roof of the Indiana Michigan Power Center.
Since 1996, over 70 falcon chicks have hatched in the Fort Wayne nesting box, making it one of the more productive falcon restoration sites in the Midwest.
