American Electric Power (AEP) believes the best way to avoid power outages is to plan ahead. We're exploring a project in southeastern Indiana that would give electricity another path to reach homes, businesses and communities when it's needed.
When electricity has more than one route to travel, it's easier to keep power flowing during periods of high demand, such as extreme hot or cold weather, or when equipment is out of service for maintenance. For communities, that means a more dependable electric system and fewer disruptions to daily life.
The proposed Batesville Transmission Improvements Project would include building approximately nine miles of 345-kilovolt transmission line connecting the Duke Energy Batesville Substation to an existing transmission line owned by AEP.
No decision has been made yet about the project route. Before that happens, we want to hear from the people who live, work and own property in the area. Their feedback will help shape the project as we move forward.
AEP welcomes conversations with landowners and community members and invites them to learn more at an upcoming open house. There will be no formal presentation. Instead, attendees can talk with project team members, view maps, ask questions and share feedback one-on-one.
