Agradezca a un trabajador de líneas eléctricas por el Día de Agradecimiento a los Trabajadores de Líneas Eléctricas en abril 18

14 de abril de 2025

Just a couple weeks ago, two powerful storms swept through Indiana Michigan Power's (I&M) territory, causing outages to approximately 70,000-plus through our southwest Michigan, South Bend/Elkhart and the Muncie districts. By Friday evening that week, all customers who lost service during the storms, who could receive power, were restored. To do this, crews faced the elements, scattered debris, downed trees and darkness of late night to ensure customers could regain normalcy. Why? Because our lineworkers are passionate about the communities I&M serves, that they too call home. On April 18, we honor our I&M lineworkers - and those nationwide - thanking them for their service and dedication to provide reliable, safe power.

Join I&M as we thank the crews who service your area. In celebration of National Lineworker Appreciation Day on April 18, we'll pass messages from our community on to our dedicated lineworkers and the teams that support them. Send a Thank You message here.

Lineworker Facts:

  • Lineworkers are trained to safely respond in all types of weather, including inches of snow and triple digits.
  • They are not afraid of heights, often climbing and working on 45-70 foot poles. Some also work in outstretched bucket trucks or on large, high voltage transmission towers that are over 100-feet tall.
  • Linecrews are required to wear safety gear known as personal protection equipment (PPE). This includes hard hats, steel-toed boots, heavy rubber gloves, fire retardant clothing and safety vests. When you work around 40,000 volts of electricity, the 50 pounds of PPE gear is critical.
  • They are vital to reliable power for your home and business - but also the community. Lineworkers are not only responsible for operating and maintaining electrical equipment, but they also raise their families, volunteer at local organizations and are active members of the communities they call home.
